With demand for low cost pop up stands increasing, the UK is seeing an emergence of economy pop up stands from manufacturers in the Far East. We take a look at the Neo pop up stand which is sold by Space Display UK Limited to see if this display stacks-up to similar economy stands from other manufacturers.
The Neo pop up stand is an economy pop up display stand which bears a close resemblance to the Xpress pop up stand from Ultima Displays in terms of the yellow plastic hubs combined with silver frame tubing.
The Neo pop up stand uses a square extruded tube rather than the round tubing used on the majority of pop up stands found on the UK market today. Traditionally, we associate such square tubing with cheaper Chinese manufactured imports or very old systems and as such we think that the selection of such shape extruded profile is a mistake.
The Neo pop up stand uses magnetic locking arms as is the case on competing pop up stands from Plex Display and Ultima which makes locking the frame in the upright position fast and simple. The graphic hanging kits on the Neo Pop Up Display are the magnetic type as employed on Ultima Express pop up stands. Although functional, the design of the hangers looks a little rough but as a low-cost economy type pop up display, this is to be expected.

The appearance of the graphic hanging kit looks a little 'rough' with the magnet standing proud of the plastic housing
The Neo pop up stand comes supplied in a choice of only two sizes being 3×3 and 3×4 in a curved shape only. As a one-off display solution, this is acceptable given that most stands sold are this configuration and size however for exhibitors who are buying-into kit with a view to expand later, it is restrictive.
The display is shipped with a wheeled case, hinged top and a pair of lights at a discount price available for resale through a number of distributors at low prices. It is worth noting however that similar systems from more established brands are also available for purchase online at equivalent prices. The purchase of an Express pop up system if available at a similar cost would be a better investment in our opinion.
